Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of Yaotong prescription in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Methods: A total of 100 patients with lumbar disc herniation admitted from January 2020 to November 2024 were selected, and the grouping design of subjects was completed by drawing lots. The control group was treated with conventional conservative therapy, while the treatment group was treated with Yaotong prescription on the basis of conservative treatment. The efficacy was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Japanese Orthopaedic Association score (JOA) and Oswestry Dysfunction Index (ODI), and adverse reactions were monitored. Results: The total effective rate of the treatment group (94.00%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (68.00%) (P＜0.05). After treatment, the VAS score (treatment group 3.20±0.80 vs. control group 5.60±1.20) and ODI index (treatment group 18.50±3.10 vs. control group 29.80±4.50) of the two groups were significantly decreased, and the JOA score (treatment group 24.70±2.30 vs. control group 18.90±2.10) was significantly increased (P＜0.05), while compared with the control group, the treatment group showed more significant improvement in all indicators (P＜0.05), and no serious adverse reactions were observed. Conclusion: Yaotong prescription can effectively relieve the pain symptoms of patients with lumbar disc herniation, improve their functional activities, and has a definite clinical effect.
