Objective: To study the clinical effect of low level laser therapy (LLLT) on facial nerve injury after trauma. Methods: Forty-five patients with facial nerve injury after trauma admitted from January 2020 to June 2022 were selected and divided into three groups according to different treatment methods. The observation group was treated with LLLT facial nerve distribution area irradiation, the positive control group was treated with traditional hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and the negative control group was the patients who did not participate in the follow-up treatment. The results of Sunnybrook facial grading system (SBGS) and facial electromyography were compared among the three groups before and after treatment. Results: Compared with before treatment, the SBGS score of the observation group was improved, the latency of facial muscle movement was significantly shortened, and the amplitude of action potential was significantly improved, the therapeutic effect was better than that of the positive and negative control groups (P<0.05). However, there was no significant change in SBGS score and facial nerve electromyography in the negative control group during the follow-up period (P>0.05). Conclusion: The application of LLLT is beneficial to the recovery of neurological function in patients with early facial nerve injury after trauma, and it is easy to operate, with high safety. It can be popularized and applied in hospitals.
