Objective: To investigate the application value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) combining with cerebrospinal fluid lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and total protein (TP) in the diagnosis of suppurative meningitis. Methods: Forty patients with purulent meningitis (PM group), 40 patients with viral meningitis (VE group) and 40 patients underwent cerebrospinal fluid examination due to other diseases (not central nervous system infection) (Non-meningitis group) in our hospital were selected as research objects from April 2019 to March 2021. The cerebrospinal fluid examination results and MRI examination results were obtained and compared. Results: There was no difference on the positive rate of MRI examination between the PM group and the VE group (P>0.05). However, the positive rates of MRI in the PM group and VE group were higher than that in the Non-meningitis group (P<0.05). LDH, AST and TP level in the PM group were higher than those in the VE group and Non-meningitis group (P< 0.05). The positive rates of LDH and AST in the PM group were higher than those in the VE group and Non-meningitis group (P<0.05). The diagnostic rates of LDH, AST, TP, MRI and LDH + AST + TP + MRI were 37.50 %, 25.00 %, 7.50 %, 100 %, and 100 % respectively. Conclusion: The combination of MRI, LDH, AST and TP in the diagnosis of suppurative meningitis has high positive rate and high accuracy, which is of significant application value.
