Objective: To observe the apoptosis of gastric cancer BGC-823 cells induced by cathepsin B (CTSB) combined with TRAIL. Methods: BGC-823 cells were routinely subcultured. The proliferation of BGC-823 cells was detected with MTT Cell Proliferation Assay Kit. The apoptosis rate was detected by flow cytometry (FCM) and the expression level of cathepsin B protein was detected with Western blot. Results: TRAIL could inhibit the proliferation of BGC-823 cells and promote apoptosis(P<0.05). The higher concentration of cathepsin B inhibitor could lead to the lower apoptosis rate(P<0.05). Western blot results showed that the higher concentration of cathepsin B inhibitor would cause the lower expression of cathepsin B(P<0.05). Conclusion: Cathepsin B combining with TRAIL could synergistically induce apoptosis of gastric cancer BGC-823 cells.
