Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of chemokine CXCL10 and its receptor CXCR3 in gastric mucosa of adult patients with nodular gastritis. Methods: Patients who were admitted to the gastroscope room of the Institute of Digestive Diseases, Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology from April 2020 to November 2021 were selected according to endoscopic manifestations, pathological examinations and Helicobacter pylori (Hp) breath test A total of 64 patients with nodular gastritis and control group were screened, and the enrolled patients were divided into nodular gastritis group (NG group), 33 cases, Hp-positive chronic non-atrophic gastritis group, 14 cases, and Hp-negative chronic non-atrophic gastritis. There were 17 cases in the group, including the nodular gastritis group with Hp infection. The gastric mucosa samples were collected, and immunohistochemistry, Western-blot and other techniques were used to detect the positive staining and protein expression of CXCL10、CXCR3 protein in the gastric mucosa of the patients in each group. Results: Immunohistochemistry showed that in gastric mucosa, positive expressions of CXCL10 and CXCR3 were found among NG group, Hp-infected chronic non-atrophic gastritis group and non-Hp-infected chronic non-atrophic gastritis group, and there were more weak positive expressions among different groups. The positive staining rates of CXCL10 and CXCR3 in gastric mucosa of Hp-infected non-atrophic gastritis group were 87.5 %(7/8) and 75.0 %(6/8), but the differences between the groups were not statistically significant.Western-blot results showed that compared with the NG group and the non-Hp-infected chronic non-atrophic gastritis group, the protein expressions of CXCL10 and CXCR3 in the Hp-infected chronic non-atrophic gastritis group were more significant and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Nodular gastritis in adults is closely related to Hp infection. The expression of CXCL10、CXCR3 is increased in gastric mucosa of patients with Hp infection, and decreased expression in nodular gastritis may represent universal inhibition of immune response.
